Middle Years Programme Authorization In Progress

Princeton International School is a Candidate School for the Middle Years Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that PIS believes is important for our students.
*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme, or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit http://www.ibo.org.

The MYP is a five-year programme which encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. Students who complete the MYP are well-prepared to undertake the IB Diploma Programme.

The MYP is designed to address the unique needs of our students. Princeton International School offers a challenging and diverse curricular programme, allowing students to develop and progress, through processes of inquiry, exploration, discovery and thoughtful reflection under the guidance of skillful teachers.

The MYP consists of eight subject groups: Language acquisition, Language and literature, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, Arts, Physical and Health Education, and Design. Throughout all MYP subject groups, approaches to learning (ATL) provide the foundation for independent learning and encourage the application of their knowledge and skills in unfamiliar contexts. Developing and applying these social, thinking, research, communication and self-management skills helps students learn how to learn.

The MYP aims to help students develop their personal understanding, their emerging sense of self and responsibility in their community. At the core of the MYP and all IB Programmes is the learner profile, 10 attributes fostered in students that promote their development as responsible members of their local, national and global communities. IB learners strive to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective.

The goal of all our students to become: inquirers and thinkers who are knowledgeable about local and global issues, are caring, risk-takers, balanced, principled, open-minded and are able to communicate in more than one language.
